International School of MULTIMEDIA JOURNALISM
The "International School of Multimedia Journalism" is a joint program of the Department of Journalism & Media Management at FHWien der WKW (Vienna, Austria) and the Master's Program in Media Communications at UCU (Lviv, Ukraine) aimed at connecting Austrian and Ukrainian students and fostering a mutual understanding for media systems and landscapes of both countries.

Three International Schools of Multimedia Journalism were held as of today. Each School consists of two parts: one in Vienna and one in Lviv (Ukrainian Catholic University). Both in Ukraine and in Austria local mentors help students to create multimedia projects. ISMJ was originally started by Ukraine and Austria and now the project also involves Denmark and Georgia.
Students gained professional international experience and were encouraged to create their own international network.

Apart from working on journalistic projects, the week in Vienna offered students an opportunity to get in touch with various international organizations. The topic "freedom of information" was also covered in depth in presentations and discussions.

A series of lectures and meetings with Ukrainian scientists and media experts in Lviv contributed to a better understanding of Ukrainian historical, political and media context.

During the first School 15 journalism students from the Department of Journalism & Media Management at FHWien der WKW (Vienna, Austria) and the Master's Program in Media Communications at Ukrainian Catholic University (Lviv, Ukraine) who successfully passed a professional selection process, created their own multimedia stories under the guidance of experienced lecturers from both universities.

The first week of the first School took place in August 2015 in Vienna under the topic "Migration". Mentors in Vienna: Dominil Sinnreich (Puls4), Stefan Pollach, Christoph Zotter (NZZ.at) and Jens Lang (ORF). Projects created in Vienna: "Successful Migration", "Realitycheck", "Calling home" and "Art moves".

The second phase of the project was held in February 2016 in Lviv under the theme "Propaganda". Mentors in Lviv: Andriy Pryymachenko, Dmytro Konovalov, Kateryna Gornostai and Victoriia Haiboniuk. Projects created in Lviv: "Fleeing Propaganda", "Propaganda in Crimea", "Fake" and "Erasing Communism".

The project "Fake" won the competition "Medialiteracy - must have modern journalists" organized by the Academy of Ukrainian Press. This project raised buzz in the media. For example, Radio Liberty and Platfor.ma wrote about the project "Fake".
All participants received certificates from the school for their successful completion of the International School of Multimedia Journalism course.
